1) We cosponsor with the Peachtree Recreation Dept., the Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City and 2 American Legion Posts the annual Peachtree City Memorial Day Program
2) Our Post Color Guard leads the Municipal July 4th Parade in Peachtree City.
3) We distribute VFW Buddy Poppies on the Saturdays before the two National Veterans Holidays, Memorial Day and Veterans Day. We collect donations during these Poppy distributions for our Veterans Relief Fund. The proceeds may only be used to provide relief to Veterans, their families, their widows and their orphans. We collect a total nearly $5,000.00 in these collections each year.
4) With the proceeds from the Relief Fund we take care packages to all the Veterans and wives or widows of Veterans who reside in Southland Nursing Home on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. For Christmas we supply each of these residents with a large Christmas basket. We give $100.00 a month to the Veterans Hospital in Atlanta to be used for the miscellaneous supplies needed by resident Veterans. We donate $1000.00 each year to the Georgia House at the VFW National Home for Orphans. We also make donations to needy local Veterans and/or their families for short-term emergency needs.
5) We now have 6 members who are DOD certified as providers of final military honors by providing flag folding for funerals and/or memorial services for deceased Veterans.
6) We provide programs at Southland Nursing Home on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
7) We collect discarded US Flags in Peachtree City and see that they are properly and respectfully disposed of.
8) We provide Veterans to speak on flag etiquette to Scout Groups and to school units as requested. We also provide Veterans to speak at school ceremonies on Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and Pearl Harbor Day.
9) We take orders for the Veterans Memorial Bricks, order the bricks, and oversee their installation. We maintain a log showing where each brick is located. We see that bricks for family members are located in adjacent spaces.
